KARPENISI VELOUHI SKI CENTER

The Municipality belongs administratively to the County of Euritania, which in turn is administered by Sterea Ellada. Euritania, with a total area of 2047 sq. klm. , borders with the Counties of Fthiotida, Karditsa and Aitelokarnania. It is an area with an historical tradition, national contribution with historic and archeological sites, religious worship and a richness of astounding natural beauty. That is, it has all of the elements to satisfy a visitor's every preference, offering rest and relaxation, action and adventure.

According to 1991 UNESCO research, Euritania is considered one of top areas of the world in environmental cleanliness and the cleanest area in Europe. It represents the "basis" for research measurement as it is considered to have a zero pollution rate.

The Municipality of Karpenissi and the wider area of Euritania County, due to their rivh historical tradition and the beauty of their environment, are filled with a large number of museums, churches and monasteries and natural beauty areas, which welcome a large number of visitors throughout the year.

ACCESS TO THE AREA The wider area of Euritania County is accessible, by road, all year long. The Municipality of Karpenissi is connected to all the large cities of Greece's Ipiros by a comfortable network of roads. For example, the area may be accessed: From Athens via the Athens-Lamia highway. Total distance 294 klm. From Lamia via the following locales: Lianokladi, Kastri, Makri, Makrakomi, Vitali, Ptelea, Neohoraki, Agios Georgios, Timphristos, Rahi Timphristou, Agios Nikolaos. Total distance 78 klm. From Thessaloniki via the Thessaloniki-Lamia highway. Total distance 368 klm. From Agrinio via the following locales: Potamoula, Agios Vlassios, Karamaneika, Houni, Gefira Episkopis, West Frangista, East Frangista, Kalesmeno. Total distance 111 klm.

Naturally, it is possible to access the area by other routes. It is, however, advisable to avoid these during the winter season, particularly if travelling by conventional vehicles. Quite the opposite, these are recommended as excellent routes for 4X4 vehicles during the summer season.
